City: Alexandria, Romania
Points discussed:
The coordinator prepared and shared with partners the project's handbook; project's main objectives, activities and timetable were once again shortly discussed
The platform will be available in English and all partner languages (Cro, Ro, Tur, It, Sl) and will be devided into following sections:
1. Content – introduction of project+resources used
2. Lectures (materials) – modules+quizzes+glossary of important terms+evaluation questionnaire
The course will be devoted to hydroponic as an innovative technique in agriculture and will include 10-12 participants; The course dates are 18 – 21.7. 2023, course venue is Viterbo, Italy
The hydroponic farming course will be divided into 3 parts: THEORY, APPLICATION TRAINING, STUDY VISITS
Liceul Tehnologic Nicolae Bălcescu, Srednja skola Dalj and Osmangazi Ilce Milli Egitim Mudurlugu presented some application solutions in their schools for the hydro application area (examples, estimated budget, space and setting up requirements).
Partners were hosted in Alexandria by LTNB school's representatives and introduced to the school's environment; also we visited the school's didactic farm.
This is a hydroponic farming course devoted to innovative technologies for the management of hydroponic crops and realized to create moments of training and comparison between producers, technicians, and professionals, useful for transferring the theoretical and practical application of the innovative technologies of cultivation and management of hydroponic cultivation systems in agriculture.
Participants acquired professional-level technical knowledge to set up hydroponics and prepare and manage nutrient solutions for fertigation.
The course included a detailed overview of the different types of hydroponic systems, from NFT systems to Deep Water Cultures. In addition, it takes you through a detailed out looking at system management, nutrient solution management, hydroponic variables, disease prevention, and control.
TUESDAY, 18.07.2023,
The host, Stefania Astolfi gave a welcoming speech and after that, teachers: Giulia Quagliata, Eleonora Coppa introduced us to the wonderful world of hydroponic farming (classification of hydroponic systems, open systems, and closed systems, advantages and disadvantages of the various hydroponic systems)
WEDNESDAY, 19.07.2023 – We learned about basic principles of mineral plant nutrition (Part I) and Basic principles of mineral plant nutrition (Part II). The course was held by Teacher Stefania Astolfi and Teacher Youry Pii who explained us about the Principles of chemistry and plant physiology, Mineral nutrients: macro- and micronutrients, Specific functions of mineral nutrients, Brief mention of nutrient uptake mechanisms, Plant Biostimulants for a sustainable and stress-resilient crop production
THURSDAY, 20.07.2023
We visited a hydroponic farm and we saw and learned about Greenhouse Operation and Management
FRIDAY, 21.07.2023
Teacher Silvio Fritegotto teached us about: Basic guidelines for the formulation of nutrient solutions, Variables of nutrient solutions: EC, pH, and dissolved oxygen, Understanding nutrient formulae, Calculating formulae, Moles and molecular weight, Concept of mother nutrient solutions, Calculation exercise with Excel, Preparation of nutrient solutions, Water-soluble fertilizers simple pure salts, NPK complex water-soluble fertilizers, Calculation of the composition of a nutrient solution for soilless crops, Mixing nutrients - Solubility and miscibility, Chelates, Calculation exercise with Excel
- Visit to Hamidiye Agriculture Vocational High School started with a presentation of students about their school. Students introduced their school. After presentation, teachers and students showed the hydroponic green house they prepared within the project. The other green houses and fields were visited.
Project partner GIULIA QUAGLIATA from UNITUS presented the training at Tuscia. There were 2 phases. The theoretical training and application training Modules. They explained each of them. Content of the modules were explained. The application training module teachers and students can learn how to prepare the nutrient of the plants. Italian version of the modules is ready. While translating, the text should be checked and the translation should stick on the context.
Partners from agricultural schools will check the student version of the modules and give feedback if the modules level is appropriate or not.
- PETER VNUCKO from IZPI presented the working version of the platform. They will finalize the teachers part. It’s not open for public now. It is going to be public after the English version is ready. They will load it at the end of December. In the course there is the introduction part and a glossary for each modules. All the terms will be linked to the content. There is the link available for definitions of the terms. The questions of the modules are needed. Questions for students will be prepared by partners from Bilecik University 5 questions with at least 3 multiple choice answers per module. Questions for teachers will be prepared by Italy 5 questions per module. Certificate of completion will pop up when the user finishes and does 60% of the quiz questions.
